Job Summary
Project controls can be summarised as the mechanism to actively measure
forecast and accurately monitor and report information needed for project
decision-making and intervention. The most useful controls- such as time-
cost- scope and risk- are the fundamental drivers to successful Project
Management.
At AECOM- Project Controls plays a pivotal role within the Project Delivery
team. A Project Controls Engineer is seen as a multi-faceted member of Project
Management team with involvement with the Bidding- Technical delivery and
commercial management of the project. A project controls Engineer will us
their knowledge of the business`s process to capture and manage projec
commercials- process- risk and programme while providing regular reporting an
engagement across a wide range of business functions.
Job Duties:
Managing all commercial elements on projects ranging from expenditure- budgeting/forecasting- invoicing- project revenue and overheads and contingency costs.
Preparing and updating project team deployments- schedules and budgets to align with project scope of work- deliverables and programme.
Using electronic platforms (like ePM or Salesforce) for a sole source of project information and data.
Update and report project status by presenting monthly project performance reviews to Project Directors and Senior Management- including review of financial position.
Internal management and early engagement of Legal and Corporate functions for project Delegation of Authority triggers- submission of documentation and following with approvals.
Engage with Project Accounts- Legal Team- Risk and Compliance team all to ensure project processes are met.
Working with Project Managers with change management procedures such as variation orders- change notices- scope creep as well as other claims.
Support Project Managers with coordinating project information- technical and commercial- with subconsultants- stakeholders and the design team
Become a ‘go-to` individual on project related issues- such as Costs- Risks- Treasury- Compliance- Quality.
Working with the Growth and Strategy team as Bid Manager to submit bids to the region`s high-profile Clients for key landmark Projects within the Middle East.
Attend and brief risk committee meetings on new Bids
Produce WBS and Gannt chart type design programmes
Conduct high-level due diligence on Clients and prospective project opportunities during pre-bid stage and project opportunity capture.
Skills:
Contractual (Legal) and commercial awareness of contracts and impact to business
Strong Excel proficiency
Strong numerical knowledge and familiarity with Project Accounting and project delivery terminology.
In touch and aware of regional construction market and regional economy and business environment
Attention to detail and able to pre-empt risks and issues with project delivery
Familiar with project sequence of work and project delivery
Minimum Requirements
5-6 years in either Project Controls- Commercial Assistant- Assistant Project Management or Project Coordinator or similar roles
Ability to multi-task across a wide range of projects and process while also supporting delivery and managing bids
Proven experience successfully working with multi-disciplinary project teams and Executive management
Experience working in the Middle East region will be considered favourably
Project planning and understanding is a plus (with use of tools like Primavera and Microsoft Project)
Preferred Qualifications
A degree in Architecture- Urban Planning- Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
Additional degrees in business administration or qualifications in related fields will be considered favourably.
