Job Summary
The DP+E- Middle East- Landscape Studio Lead will be a member of the senior
management group of DP+E Middle East which operates as an integrated team
across principle offices currently in Abu Dhabi- Dubai- Jeddah and also
smaller office bases across the region.
The Middle East DP+E team combines specialist skills in large-scale city
planning- development master planning- landscape architecture and public
realm- resort and leisure planning- transit oriented development and
sustainable urban growth. The Middle East team regularly works with AECOM`s UK
and other international teams to bring the best of AECOM`s world-class talent
to meet client expectations on complex projects.
This role is intended to strengthen the ability of DP+E and AECOM more widel
to take projects from large scale master planning and city-scale work in the
Middle East- through to detailed Landscape- Building and infrastructure
design. It also helps to build strong- high-level client relationships- to
position for and win new project work- and to collaborate with our multi-
disciplinary teams across the region and in EMEA to bid and deliver projects
successfully.
Responsibilities:
The DP+E- Middle East- Landscape Studio Lead will work alongside- the other
DP&E Directors and support the Head of DP+E- ME for bidding and winning work
activities and wider AECOM strategic commissions in collaboration with the
Buildings + Places Middle East leader- regional leadership and Middle East
strategic growth team.
The DP+E- Middle East- Landscape Studio Lead will report to the Head of DP+E-
Middle East and will responsible for the business development of the ME
landscape market DP+E plan- to align with the AECOM Buildings + Places and
EMIA strategy for growth. This work will include supporting the overall
business development plan and marketing activities to cultivate an enhanced
presence and client base in the Abu Dhabi- Dubai and the wider Middle East
market and secure future master planning- landscape and public realm design
projects for the practice.
An important part of the role will be to identify and align with high-level
influencers and clients both in government and the private sector- to
demonstrate AECOM as the strategic consultant of choice for regional- urban
development and development/infrastructure projects.
In addition to management of the technical group of landscape designers the
role requires the strongest behaviours of collaboration and leadership as part
of the broader teams including those from other end markets. Technical
excellence and continuous quality improvement is pivotal to a successful
business and the ME DP&E Landscape Lead Architect is responsible and
accountable for ensuring the quality of for all landscape deliverables leaving
the office.
You will also have coaching- influencing- mentoring and staff development
responsibilities to ensure the delivery of high quality and timely outcomes in
line with client requirements- providing technical counsel on projects- and
client relationship marketing and management. They will also actively
contribute to the team environment- staff development and retention.
Job Duties:
The DP&E- ME Landscape Lead Architect will work with project teams to complete
work in accordance with the budget and timelines for the client. You will also
work as part of a senior management team and have business and leadership
responsibilities. This will include but is not limited to:
Apply high level senior level knowledge and judgment for a landscape and master planning projects. Manage and deliver a range of bids and projects across DP+E and supporting DP+E leader and other business lines.
Anticipate future business needs- plan for resources and ensure teams are focused and aligned on key objectives to advance the company and deliver results. Takes accountability for results and proactively addresses any unintended consequences.
Act as Bid Director- directing the production of complex technical and commercial proposals involving multiple disciplines and geographies.
Prepare relevant internal bid documents and provide leadership and direction on pricing strategies.
Be able to develop bid strategy and identify and communicate critical success factors for winning the project to the client in the bid Undertake any design work in accordance with the scope of the proposal as agreed by the client and within the associated budget parameters.
Work closely with the client and stakeholders to deliver high quality design product in a timely manner.
Monitor project progress against the budget on a regular basis to track and report project performance.
Implement and use AECOM`s quality management system for all project work.
Mentor- challenge and grow staff to create a high level of creativity and enthusiasm.
Manage the delivery of projects in compliance with applicable authorities` requirements.
Bring a strong creative flair to AECOM`s Design- Planning + Economics studio.
Support the urban planning- master planning and landscape design teams in the production of conceptual and detailed designs and associated contract drawings- presentation drawings- schedules and specifications for landscape and urban development schemes.
Manage and/or participate in the preparation of contracts- service agreements- partnerships-submissions- grant applications and funding arrangements.
Co-ordinate with other discipline leaders within DP+E and across the organisation to support strong collaboration and integrated planning and outcomes; and liaise with the AECOM team on an EMIA and global scale with regard to such issues as assembling project teams and completing multi-office agreements
Ensure accuracy and quality of work in accordance with project scope within project parameters and client requirements.
Manage the presentation and report development for clients and play a key role in client management and client satisfaction.
Meet with and report to the Business Manager / Project Accountant on a regular basis to track project progress against the budget.
Issue invoices and resolve overdue payments when required in consultation with the Finance group and in accordance with AECOM standards.
Implement and use AECOM`s QA system within all project work and maintain and refine in-house standards- procedures- and policy.
Lead marketing efforts to current clients and be instrumental in identifying and attracting new clients.
Delegate aspects of the project to team members and oversee their delivery in a timely and accurate manner with agreed quality standards.
Participate in Regional and Firm-wide committees- forums and Practice Circles as required.
Minimum Requirements
15+ years in and most recently taking senior leadership roles in relevant projects
Proven experience successfully managing a team and multi-disciplinary project teams
Experience working in Abu Dhabi- Dubai and the Middle East region will be considered favorably
A proven track record of successfully delivering a range of landscape- master planning and public realm development projects
Extensive experience in the management of projects from proposal development to completion- including periodic project reviews
Strong design skills with ability to work from broad scale master planning to detailed landscape design.
Able to lead an effective team assisting and supporting team members.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information.
Drive the highest levels of quality across all projects and deliverables for a practice- client or geography- signoff on QA/QC of deliverables.
Lead in the development of technical project material- and guide the delivery of all aspects of multiple projects. Establish the bar for quality- and delivery across a practice- and establish systems for more effective project delivery.

Experience in both government and in private sector is preferred

Additional Comments:
The role requires the successful candidate to be based in Abu Dhabi- United
Arab Emirates- with a day a week in Dubai. The role will also require travel
and commitments to deliver projects across the Middle East and Africa to
collaborate with colleagues in other offices- get the best job done- support
the team and deliver a quality product for the client in a timely manner.

Professional accreditation license
Additional degrees or qualifications in related fields will be considered favorably.
