Job Summary
The AECOM Design- Planning and Economics team currently have an exciting
opportunity for a Graduate Urban Planner. Our graduate Urban Planners
contribute to the conception of creative- contextually responsive and
economically viable urban planning strategies and solutions. The successful
candidate will be required to work as a part of the Design- Planning and
Economics team with a specific focus on environmental planning and
sustainability and integrate with the wider AECOM disciplines to provide
technical support on a variety of master planning projects.
The Graduate Urban Planner will be encouraged to undertake further trainin
for self- development to assist in reaching annual goals. The successfu
candidate will also be encouraged to integrate into the organization an
specifically with other graduates in order to build interpersonal skills an
foster future working relationships.
Early work with us will typically include the following:
Providing support in terms of technical expertise and administration for a range of projects- including strategic planning- land use planning- master planning and environmental planning.
Work within multi-disciplinary teams of planners- urban designers- landscape architects and engineers to complete land development- master planning and strategic planning projects.
Undertake data and information collection and analyse this to identify opportunities and constraints- inform land use datasets and other outputs as part of planning projects.
The review and understanding of such items as master plan data sets (build and maintain data sets to establish urban planning parameters). This will be coupled with the understanding of applying development assumptions and the various elements that come together to inform and create a plan.
Support environmental permitting process by collecting required data and help prepare the application forms.
General knowledge on sustainable planning principles- concepts- strategies- controls and guidelines in line with local and international regulations and standards; and a keen interest in obtaining local and international sustainability certifications such as Estidama- Al Sa`fat and LEED.
Provide support to senior environmental planning and sustainability staff to generate written and illustrative environmental and sustainable planning components of DPE project deliverables.
Communication of task progress to relevant senior staff member or project manager.
Prepare presentations for ultimate delivery to clients- stakeholders and government
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Urban Planning and/or a related discipline
Working knowledge of MS Office software programs.
Good knowledge of Microsoft excel and maintaining complex datasets.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is highly beneficial.
Able to set priorities and meeting critical time deadlines.
Able to interface effectively with both clients and other inter-office disciplines
Up to 1 year experience in urban planning or related field is beneficial
Preferred Qualifications
The ability to identify and analyse complex- multi-disciplinary issues.
The ability to manage your time effectively.
Must be pro-active- agile and adaptable to various working scenarios.
Must be a highly motivated self-starter.
Must have excellent communication- interpersonal and organizational skills.
