Variation Assessment – review, assess, value all variations and make recommendations to the client

Final Accounts – manage the preparation, submittal, review and settlement of accounts

1.The concept / theme is a streets and square concept, with an outdoor ambience incorporated within an indoor conditioned environment. Aesthetically designed keeping the family shopper in mind, the retail offerings of the mall have been categorized into 3 distinct districts. The project will feature 2 million square feet of leasable space spread over ground and first floor levels, comprising c.650 retail and F&B outlets, three major family entertainment centres, a 20-screen Cineplex, a hypermarket, and outdoor events area.

2.The mall will deliver modern ”industrial chic” architecture and interior design and will provide over 50 F&B offerings across two levels with external terraces to maximise the integration with the adjoining Expo Plaza Park, an urban green park of multi-recreational and sports usage. Key entertainment offerings include a 9 screen cinema and large family entertainment centre located at opposite ends of the linear mall positioned to draw custom down the main mall concourse spine of approximately 300m in length. The mall will consist of c. 180 units.

Tenancy Coordination & Delivery/Project Management Services:

The scope of services to be performed by the Service Provider shall include as a minimum:

a) Ensure all works pertaining to the retail unit fit out and handover of the trading units to The Dubai Mall Operational Team are completed on time and to the required standards.
b) Ensure nominated unit is ready for handover prior to tenant commencement.
c) Management of all pre-handover contractor briefing, meetings and minutes of the same

We have an opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Engineering Geologist. This is an excellent opportunity to take a pivotal role in our very successful Geotechnical engineering team in Dubai. The candidate should be experienced in engineering geological and geohazard investigations, particularly for civil engineering purposes. This experience should be applicable to a wide range of ground engineering environments and preferably include work in the Middle East.

The successful applicant will be an Engineering Geologist with a proven technical track record in major international projects.

Candidates should have:
A strong academic background with good academic qualifications – as a minimum first degree in geology or geography and a second degree in engineering geology or with a large component of engineering geology / geomorphology.
Approaching or working towards Chartered status
Excellent technical experience. Experience of engineering geological and geohazard investigations of sites for civil engineering purposes, ideally with experience of working in the Middle East.
The candidate’s technical experience should range from terrain evaluation of large areas to the detailed investigation of specific sites. It should include (as a minimum) landslide investigations and the assessment of ground conditions for particular projects. An ability to use engineering geological software would be an advantage, particularly GIS for mapping and 3-dimensional terrain and geological modelling.
Experience in the following sectors would be advantageous: rail, highways, nuclear facilities, onshore and offshore pipelines and oil and gas facilities.
Good interpersonal skills and the experience of developing and leading investigation and design teams
Good communication skills – able to liaise effectively at project manager and project director level and with clients.
Good report writing skills and the ability to self-check and to produce high quality and accurate work.
Able to demonstrate good people skills and fit within the current team dynamic.
A clear willingness to travel on short assignments in and around the Middle East.
An international or equivalent driving licence.

Responsibilities 

Site Structural Engineer

  • Implement the site supervision quality procedures, and review submission requirements of the project, along with the contractor.
  • Review all construction documents and highlight any design and contractual discrepancies with the concerned SRE/RE I SPM I SHOS.
  • Ensure that all statutory authority NOC’s I permits I design approvals are available on site for construction.
  • Ensure that the main contractor and nominated subcontractor coordinate with all concerned authorities departments and ensure that their requirements are adequately and satisfactorily incorporated.
  • Extend the maximum possible effort to avoid contractor(s) claims for cost and/or delay.
  • Prepare process control sheet for Structural works in conjunction with SHOS during the Enabling Works / Main Contract Works.
  • Review and forward any comments on all submittals including contractor design drawings, shop drawings, materials and alternative proposals submitted by contractors.
  • Conduct regular (daily) site visits and supervise, certify the installation of structural works ensuring compliance with the contract documents.
  • Review and forward any comments on the contractor’s method statement for installation, execution of the works.
  • Review and forward any comments on the contractor’s technical submittals.
  • Attend site technical coordination meetings to discuss contractor (s) submissions, shop drawings, material submittals and construction related matters
  • Review and forward any comments on the Technical Query’s raised by the contractor.
  • Routine Inspection of the works carried out by the cohtractor(s) to ascertain that work is executed in accordance with the Contract Documents and accepted practise.
  • Inspect the mock-up, permanent works, on-site and off-site materials to be used in the project and organise field and laboratory tests, conducted by others, on construction materials to ascertain their compliance with the specifications and determine the acceptability for use on the project.
  • Raise non-conformance notice·s (NCNs)/reports; site inspections notices (SINs) identify quality deficiencies in conjunction with the SAE/RE/ SPM
  • Review the corrective actions proposed by the contractor, respond I follow ups and close out procedure
  • Any potential safety concerns identified at site shall be reported to site SHSEE I
  • SRE/RE / SPM
  • Review the site progress and assist in the review of the contractor’s interim payment application.
  • Liaise with the SHOS for the effective implementation of the quality management systems and site supervision provision activities.
  • Obtain samples and quotations as required for finalisation of any PS/PC Items.
  • Monitor the progress of the work against the approved contractor programme of works.
  • Verify the accuracy of the contractor’s “As-Built” drawings reflecting in details the as built conditions and approve the As-Bui It drawings.
  • Review and approve the contractor’s operations & maintenance manuals.
  • Liaise with the Statutory Authorities and follow up all final inspection and approvals as required.
  • Carry out the final inspection for certification of final completion and handing over of the works.

Project Interface

  • Assist SRE/RE I SPM in the supervision of the Works to ensure compliance with the contract documents.
  • Assist/support the site team and the respective SRE/RE I SPM with the implementation of quality management systems.
  • Assist in the site team in the external and internal audits to ensure the effective implementation of Quality I HSE management systems and work with the site team for resolution of non-conformance issues.
  • Liaise with the project supervision team, coordinate and resolve any issues of concern.
  • Analyse current methods of site supervision and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Implementation of all quality audits, surveillance audits and work with site team for resolution of non-conformance issues.
  • Compile Site Feedback and forward to the SRE/RE I SPM I SHOS
  • Assist the site team in the satisfactory close out of the project including snagging Idesnagging of the works and related documentation.
  • Review and assist the project team to compile all documents at handing-over for submission to the Client.
  • Assist the SRE/RE I SPM in compilation of all documents for the issuance of the Taking-Over Certificate

Client Interface

  • Provide necessary technical reports I recommendation as required by the Client for any project specific issues.
  • Attend meetings wi1h Client (as required) .
  • Liaise with the Client for the necessary approval of samples

Contractor Interface

  • Regularly attend site technical coordination meetings with Contractor

Design Office Interface

  • Identify, raise and follow-up design office support requests in co-ordination with the SHOS

Site Operations Department Interface

  • Liaise with the SHOS any particular project site related issues requiring input and/or feedback.
  • Coordinate leave request and discuss leave cover with the SHOS. Liaise with OMSOD for all HR I Finance I Administrative issues.

Functional Duties

  • Assume responsibility of Structural works in the project and certify on completion the installation.
  • Monitor performance of the Contractor I Sub-contractor and identify, raise any quality
  • I workmanship concerns with the SQE I SAE/RE I SPM. ·
  • Review quality procedures and effectively implement QA/QC plans across the project. Identify any particular site safety issues and bring to the notice of the contractor I
