Key purpose

The purpose of the position is to be able to carry out the operation and maintenance of the BMS (Building Management System) and the associated building services system controls equipment for all of the plant and systems contained in and around the premises.

Initiate and coordinate accredited training programs for work health and safety requirements
Initiate and organise education programs for all relevant members of staff in the areas of occupational health, safety and fire prevention.
Maintain first aid supplies in accordance with legislative requirements
Investigate the causes of accidents on site and recommend actions to prevent future occurrences
Maintain records of all injuries and illnesses occurring at the work place in accordance with legislative requirements and provide statistical summaries of these records.
Perform and carry out other duties as instructed / directed by the line manager and Facilities service manager or deputy.

Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualifications

Education

Nebosh Certificate, IV or diploma in occupational health and safety

Experience

Practical experience in the principal HSQE functions

Skills/Knowledge/Attributes

Good knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001
Personal integrity and personal values consistent with Serco’s governing principles.
Good analytical skills
Articulate, well developed verbal and written communication skills.
Sound computer skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Able to remain calm in stressful situations
Commercially aware
Good command of English language
Knowledge of AD EHSMS, NFPA, HTM
Knowledge of MEP and FM working environments
Project management qualification/experience (e.g. APM)

Ensure compliance with all training requirements of Serco and ensure adherence to these requirements at all times whilst in employment
Report any accidents, incidents, breaches or potential breaches to appropriate management or the speak up process
